we received this gem in the mail yesterday:
i’ve noticed reports that walmart has been doing quite well in this age of the economic hiccup.
& i thank them for the glossy, full-color reminder to the state to get cracking profiling local shopping ideas for the recessed holiday season in the shenandoah valley.
we love talking about local food, so let’s start today with the t & e meat market. it’s located just blocks north of downtown harrisonburg (see map) & it was recently purchased by polyface farms (who have been long-time customers of the harriosnburg meat processor). look for local, grass-fed meat, fresh and frozen, from a variety of local sources.
last night we wolfed down some of their amazing, uncured, polyface beef hotdogs & the polyface pork sausage links went beautifully thismorning w/ wade’s mill waffle-mix waffles (banana buttermilk), eggs from the little grill (around 2 bucks per dozen), and local maple syrup (also from the little grill).
we need to head down to pick up another bottle…
anyway, we’ve got plenty more to show & tell, & would love to hear others’ local ideas.
