despite bizarre registrar hijinks, the daily news record puts some numbers on the election’s anticipated voting boom:

City officials report 853 absentee ballots have been cast in Harrisonburg by the end of Friday, compared to only 77 in 2004.

we won’t be seeing a hundred-fold increase in voting, but i’m sure planning on getting in line early tomorrow!

some of my absentee-voting friends have noticed that city council candidates are not listed with party affiliation.  so, for the state

‘s money, we’ll be spreading our 3-votes-apiece around the democratic side: baugh, weins, and degner.  i wonder, have ballots always listed council candidates in name only, w/out party, or is this a 2008 innovation?  i mean, there’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of about being republican, ¿right?
